Seriously though... send me your coupon info. I think this motivates sales and keeps everyone doing buisness "in the family".

My guess is that we are collectively keeping in the 80% - 100% of purchases within our advertiser group, and I think these offers are a big help.

If you have trouble thinking up stuff ask... I can usually rattle off tons of ideas.

Usually though I try to structure orders on 1) increasing ticket size. (FREE SHIPPING on orders over $XXX) or frequency of purchases.

I really wouldn't mind some good ideas either Brock. I think it would be good if we could keep the offers relatively the same across the board. We have all been GREAT at not trying to compete with each other and we do work well together. I am hoping that we can do the same here.

Sure, I always have ideas.

I always try to focus on either increasing A) Frequency of purchases, or B) individual ticket size.

Ticket size is always a good one. If I were in your shoes I would pick something that you make a lot of profit on and use a perk to incentify them. For instance:

* Buy 5 AAA tops and get 15lbs of bracewood free.
* FREE SHIPPING on orders totaling more than $400
* Buy any two sets and get your choice of AA top FOR FREE!

Think of things that will get people to "buy in bulk to save". Again, I would look carefully at what products you make the most profit on and focus your promotion around that. Either use these products as the incentive item because they have a high perceived value, but low cost to you. OR... Use the high margin products as the item to purchase. It really just depends on what you have a lot of and what you want to move.


Another idea would be to offer a contest and ask people to register for your free newsletter. Then you will have a database of people you can go back to over and over and over again. Email is very cheap (BTW, I own an email marketing service provider. ) and it drives sales like nobody's business. Offer something great and I wouldn't be surprised if you had a high percentage of the membership participate.

Give away something cool every month and announce the winner in the forum. That is a good reason then for members to get on your list.

Another great thing to do is to give away "logo'd merchandise" Get a wood branding tool and give away stickers.

* Buy $250 or more in products and get 12 free stickers. Then burn your logo, web address and phone number into the stickers. THEN YOU KNOW FOR SURE your contact info is close at hand.

Those are all ideas that would work well for wood sellers.



Paul.... why don't you offer $200 off your first inlay project? (or whatever... you can figure out the economics of it... just make the offer a real motivator). My guess is that once someone tries using your services it is much easier to get them back for repeat business.

Then, you should start sending out a newsletter to all past customers showing them the work you are doing, tell them about how CNC is changing your business (faster, cheaper, more repeatable). You may find that you will get people offering standard inlay options and you can pick up "steady" customers or people offering common inlays that they have you cut for them. I think in addition to a coupon you could make this the focus of an entire promotion.


Throw some specific ideas out there and I would be happy to help you refine them... I love doing this stuff.
